Dyeeeee

Haven't done my own hair in a while and got bored so... time to DYEEEEEEE!
Here's a little guide on how to dye your hair.

Important reminder

WEAR A SHIRT THAT YOU DON'T QUITE CARE ABOUT. Or dark colored. No matter how careful you are. Dye gets everywhere. And I mean everywhere.

Step 1

If you have dark hair, go to the salon (you could also do it at home but I recommend a professional) and double process (bleach it twice) your hair. By the end of the first bleach you will feel like it is enough. It may be for a lighter dark hair but if not then NO IT IS NOT ENOUGH. It will come out yellowy orangey something and screw up the colors you really want (my pink turned orange, i was pissed, i hate orange).

P.S. I AM NOT GOOD AT THIS STEP SO I GO TO A SALON. FOR BETTER BLEACHING ADVICE GO TO SOMEONE WHO KNOWS IT BETTER, LIKE GOOGLE.

If you have light hair, skip to step 4.

Step 2

After the bleach (salons usually do this but you can go home and do it), shampoo and conditioner. Right now your hair is still fragile from the bleach so make sure to use cold water and a small amount of shampoo and don't do it for as long as you normally would. Then lightly dry it and try your best to comb it out. IF YOUR HAIR GETS PULL OUT WHEN YOU COMB then comb lightly, dont force it.

Step 3

Tie your hair. Divide your hair into half and tie the top, like the photo above. Okay that wasn't a good photo never mind, but you get the point.

Step 4

Add your colors. Put your colors in bowls like the one below and make sure it will be more or the same amount that you want to use. You can if you want to add more later but usually by then your hands are completely smushed with dye that you don't want to touch anything anymore.
IF YOU WANT A MIX OF COLORS, mix them in a bowl together and keep adding amounts as needed to make the colors you want. This time it is crucial to add equal or more amount because you may not be able to make the same color mix again later and the shades will be different.

I use Manic Panic most of the time but it's up to you to use whatever you want. Just make sure to read the instructions before you use it.

Unless you are like whatever. Then do whatever.

Step 5

Use a brush or whatever you want to use (your hands, feet etc) to paint the colors on to your hair. Begin with the bottom half of your hair and work your way up. It's not as easy to tie your hair up after you dye it. Take a piece of hair about... uh... like a pinch full? I don't know, you choose. And paint it from the top (closest to the head) to the ends. Make sure to remember the other side of your hair. whichever side you paint on first you will usually focus on covering that part but forgetting the other side. ALSO, if you paint on thick pieces of hair make sure to brush horizontally as well to get the hairs inside the lump.

If you want to do different colors for different parts, it is best to use aluminum foil to cover each section. I'm just too lazy for that.

Step 6

Wait for at least 30 minutes. I like to wait longer because I want the color to REALLY sink in. So I watch a movie or just go about my regular day.

Step 7

Wash & dry. With light shampoo and heavier conditioner. Best with cold water as well, heat seems to take the color away faster. Make sure to wash very carefully and don't miss any of the dye because when it dries it clumps up the next day. Unless you're into that.

I also recommend you to get treatment for your hair! I'm pretty sure you could find some in pharmacies, some kind of strong hair treatment you can use once or twice. Or another option is to use coconut oil and rub it in your hair and go watch another movie, and since it out.. This will keep your hair healthier instead of being damaged. Apply once or twice a week I would say. Focus on the bottom because that's the most damaged area and putting it at the top of your hair will cause it to be oily at the top.

Step 8

LOVE YOUR HAIR & take a billion selfies.

P.S. I'm no professional. I just do it a lot at home.
